Jessie Burton is a British author and actor whose debut novel The Miniaturist, set in 17th-century Amsterdam, became an acclaimed bestseller and scooped the 2014 Waterstones Book of the Year. Burton followed this success with two more standalone novels, The Muse (2016) and The Confession (2019) as well as children’s books The Restless Girls (2018), a retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses by the Brothers Grimm, and Medusa (2021), a feminist recasting of the Greek myth. 2022 saw the publication of The House of Fortune, the eagerly anticipated sequel to The Miniaturist.
In the sequel to former Waterstones Book of the Year The Miniaturist, Burton crafts another exquisite story of family and fate set in early 18th-century Amsterdam.
