Jamie Smart has worked for some of the most iconic comics and studios around, including the revamped Beano and Dandy as well as Disney and Cartoon Network. In 2003, he created a black and white alternative comic for adults called Bear which featured the unhinged and darkly hilarious adventures of the eponymous stuffed creature and his psychotic cat roommate Looshkin. Looshkin subsequently made appearances in The Phoenix comic when Smart moved there, although the black comedy was reined in, and the strip made much more child friendly. Whilst volumes of the Looshkin stories have been published and the Flember and Max and Chaffy series have proven popular, Smart’s biggest success to date has been Bunny vs Monkey – the madcap woodland escapades of a collection of memorably bonkers characters. Also collated from his work in The Phoenix, Bunny vs Monkey currently runs to nine volumes since the publication of the original Bunny vs Monkey in 2020.
The woodland creatures are competing to find out who is the funniest and the result is this zany, side-splitting joke book from the bestselling series of comic books by Jamie Smart.
Jamie Smart, author of Bunny vs Monkey: Bunny Bonanza, explains how he came up with the characters for his hit comic book series.
