  • Scottish author Iain M. Banks, (or Iain Banks when writing mainstream Fiction), is the author of the Science Fiction novels in the Culture cycle books.

  • His Science Fiction writing, particular the Culture cycle novels, contain some of the most compelling stories of humanity co-existing amongst the stars in print today. 
  • From trans-human spy thrillers in Consider Phlebas, the first in the Culture cycle series, to galaxy-spanning political intrigue in The Hydrogen Sonata, the last of the Culture cycle novels to be published.

  • In June 2013 Iain M. Banks died shortly after the announcement that he had terminal cancer.
