Holly Black

An award-winning fantasy writer, American author Holly Black is known for bestselling series, often interweaving folk and fairy tale tradition with modern storytelling. She began her writing career with the YA novel Tithe, the first in her Modern Fairytales series. An American bestseller, the novel won several awards and established Black’s reputation as a fantasy author. Since then she has written stand-alone novels, short stories, graphic novels and series for both YA and middle grade readers as well as adult speculative fiction. These include the bestselling Spiderwick Chronicles (co-written with Tony DiTerlizzi), which was adapted for film in 2008 as well as the Curse Worker’s series, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, Doll Bone and the Folk of the Air trilogy. More recently she has produced the Magisterium series in collaboration with the fantasy author Cassandra Clare.
