Helen Fielding

Helen Fielding is an English novelist best known for the hugely successful Bridget Jones books. Fielding studied English at Oxford, where she was a member of the 1978 Oxford revue with Rowan Atkinson and Richard Curtis. She worked for the BBC during the 1980s, covering poverty in Africa for Comic Relief, and in the 1990s she became a journalist and columnist for The Sunday Times, The Independent and The Telegraph. She started writing an anonymous column in 1995 for The Independent about "Bridget Jones". Bridget Jones's Diary was her second novel following the publication of Cause Celeb in 1994.
