After studying screenwriting at university, Hannah Gold worked in the London film and theatre industry before leaving the UK to travel the world. After exploring different places around the globe and living in Spain for ten years, she returned to Britain and settled down in Lincolnshire.
Gold’s debut, The Last Bear (2021) is the moving tale of the daughter of an Arctic researcher and her encounter with a lone polar bear, stunningly illustrated by Levi Pinfold. It became an instant bestseller and has been shortlisted for numerous awards, including The Blue Peter Book Award 2021and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2022. Her second book, The Lost Whale (2022), recounts another compelling animal adventure, subtly reflecting on climate change and the fate of species threatened with extinction.
From the author of former Waterstones Children's Book Prize-winner The Last Bear comes an enthralling and exotic story of jungle adventure, as Silver Trevelon and her new friends track down the stolen eggs of a leatherback turtle.
