One of British television’s most loved cookery duos, the Hairy Bikers were formed when locations manager Si King and head of prosthetics, hair and make-up Dave Myers met on the set of a television drama in 1992. Recognising their shared love of cookery and motorcycles, they landed their first television show The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook in 2006. For the next eighteen years the pair were rarely off British TV screens, securing huge ratings with shows such as The Hairy Bikers’ Bakeation, The Hairy Bikers’ Asian Adventure and The Hairy Bikers’ Go West. Cookbooks accompanied many of these series, frequently becoming bestsellers, whilst their 2012 series The Hairy Dieters spawned numerous spin-off cookbooks and nutrition guides also.
Dave Myers passed away on 28 February 2024 after a long battle with cancer, bringing an end to the partnership.
