Doing for Hilary Clinton what she did for Laura Bush in American Wife, Sittenfeld imagines a world in which the presidential hopeful never married Bill Clinton. Brimming with the author’s gift for deft characterisation and psychological acuity, Rodham is fascinating and intimate alternate history.

Sittenfeld studied creative writing at Stanford, where she wrote for the college newspaper and edited the paper’s weekly arts magazine. She went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Iowa Writer’s workshop. Her short stories have appeared in the New Yorker, the Washington Post and Esquire, while her non-fiction, including an interview with Michelle Obama, has delighted the audiences of Time magazine, the New York Times, Vanity Fair and the Atlantic.

Praised as a rigorous and wily stylist and a honed chronicler of the modern age, Sittenfeld’s fiction is filled with riveting, unique characters and razor-sharp wit. Her latest novel, Rodham, was published in June 2020.
