Chris Carter is a bestselling Brazilian crime writer.
Carter grew up in Brazil and moved to the United States to study psychology, specialising in criminal behaviour. After graduation, he went on to work in the Michigan State District Attorney’s Criminal Psychology team – a role in which he interviewed and studied various serial and multiple homicide offenders. In the early 1990s, Carter relocated to Los Angeles and spent the following ten years as a guitarist for various rock bands, before becoming a full-time writer.
Drawing from his expertise on the criminal mind, Carter has written several acclaimed and hugely popular psychological thrillers. His first novel, The Crucifix Killer came out in 2009, featuring Robert Hunter, a Homicide Detective in the Los Angeles Police. The eleventh instalment in the series, Written in Blood was published in 2020.
Carter’s background in criminal psychology shines through in his nuanced and credible characters and, with Written in Blood, he may have crafted his most psychologically acute thriller yet. A pickpocket, a loudmouth and a bag with sinister, life-changing contents coalesce in this utterly absorbing page turner.
