Beth O'Leary
After graduating from university with an English degree, O’Leary worked in children’s publishing and the majority of her debut novel The Flatshare (2019) was written on her daily hour-long commute into work. An effortlessly witty romantic comedy about two people who share a residence but are never supposed to meet, The Flatshare has been published in over thirty countries and become a bestselling modern classic of the literary romcom genre. The Switch followed the next year and built on the success of her debut with an uplifting story of a pensioner and her granddaughter who swap places for eight weeks, whilst 2021’s The Road Trip finds a young woman forced to undergo the eponymous excursion to a friend’s wedding with her troublesome ex-boyfriend. O’Leary’s fourth novel The No-Show, a brilliantly constructed comedy about a triple-timing love rat, was published in 2022.
