Born and raised in Atlanta, Rebecca Albertalli studied psychology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and subsequently earned her doctorate from George Washington University in Washington D.C. Albertalli worked as a psychologist until 2012, when her first child was born and she started working on her first novel.
Albertalli’s debut Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – now a modern YA classic with and authentic and moving coming out story at its heart – was published in 2015; three years later, it was adapted into the film Love, Simon, which in turn inspired a spin-off TV series Love, Victor. The next instalment in her Simonverse series, The Upside of Unrequited, came out in 2017, followed by Leah on the Offbeat (2018) and Love, Creekwood (2020). Albertalli’s other works include two novels co-written with Adam Silvera, What If It's Us (2018) and Here’s To Us (2021), as well as Kate in Waiting (2021) and Imogen, Obviously (2023).
