Anthony Browne
A celebrated British children’s author and illustrator and the Waterstones Children’s Laureate from 2009 to 2011, Anthony Browne was born in Sheffield and began his career as a greetings card illustrator before turning to writing and illustrating picture books. One of his designs for a birthday card later became the inspiration for his much-loved picture book Gorilla, which won Browne his first Kate Greenaway Medal in 1983.
His first books were Through the Magic Mirror and A Walk in the Park, which was published in 1977. Since then he has written and illustrated more than 50 books including Bear Hunt, The Tunnel, Zoo, which won the 1992 Kate Greenaway Medal, , produced when he was Illustrator in Residence at The Tate, Into the Forest, Things I Like and Little Beauty.
The great Anthony Browne returns with another dazzlingly inventive spin on a traditional fairy tale, as a trio of bored friends are suddenly granted three wishes by a mysterious blue fairy.
