Amor Towles

Born and raised in Boston, Amor Towles obtained his undergraduate degree from Yale College and his MA in English from Stanford University. After graduation, he worked as an investment manager and director of research at Select Equity Group in New York City for two decades. His first novel The Rules of Civility, a dizzying coming-of-age set in the jazz-filled world of interwar Manhattan, became so successful it enabled Towles to retire from his day job and focus on writing full time.

His second novel, A Gentleman in Moscow, followed in 2016 and was also a huge success amongst critics and the reading public alike. Towles’ other works include the novel The Lincoln Highway (2021) and short fiction collections Eve in Hollywood (2013) and Table for Two (2024).
