Synopsis

The world-famous crime-solving duo Holmes and Watson are on sterling form in this wonderful compilation of six unabridged adventures. Released to coincide with Arthur Conan Doyle's 150th Birthday and Guyt Richie's much-anticipated December 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie. The following are the contents of this title. "A Scandal in Bohemia" - this tale, involving blackmail and the King of Bohemia, inspired the Guy Richie-directed Sherlock Holmes film starring Robert Downey Junior, releasing December 2009. "Silver Blaze" - a racehorse disappears on the eve of an important meet and its trainer appears to have been murdered. Our heroes set out to uncover the surprising truth. In "The Adventure of the Copper Beeches" - a young woman agrees to a governess post with an impressive salary but strange conditions. As odd requirements abound, she calls Holmes in to help. "The Adventure of the Priory School" - When a pupil goes missing from a preparatory school in Northern England, Holmes and Watson investigate, to find whether the boy is a runaway of if something more sinister is afoot. "The Red-Headed League" - a man recruited for a post that stipulates that only 'red-headed' people need apply comes to Holmes to discover why his hair colour was so pivotal to obtaining his seemingly unrelated role. "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" - a very rare gemstone is stolen and a man imprisoned for the crime. When the jewel is found in an unusual place, our duo determine to find the real perpetrator.
