Synopsis
The Living Literature series has been written to meet new developments in the teaching of AS/A level English Literature and AS/A level English Language and Literature. The series is designed to fulfil assessment objectives for the specifications from 2000 onwards for all examining boards. Essentially practical books, the Living Literature series provides a wealth of material to inform and stimulate students. The series covers broad perspectives on literature alongside close textual analysis and offers enjoyable activities and investigations throughout. Reading Drama invites students to question the elements of drama, building on their knowledge of how different playwrights handle dialogue, characterisation and symbolism through a range of activities. The book emphasises drama as a point of collaboration between a writer and any number of people, from the audience to the director, encouraging students to analyse the dramatic purpose of a text. Topics range from the properties of drama and a brief view of its history through to a look at contexts, interpretations and how to write about drama for examination.
