This review points to the extent to which the salaries of Members of Parliament have fallen behind those of posts of similar responsibilities; the disparity has become even greater in the case of senior ministers and the Prime Minister. This largely arises from the scaling down of the 1983 Top Salaries Review Body report recommendations. Detailed recommendations for increased salaries and changes to the level and scope of allowances are made. Also available: Volume II, "Surveys and Studies", command paper 3330-II, ISBN 0-10-133303-X.
