Motivate someone to achieve a specific goal -- ending up with fewer 'awkward' appraisal discussions with your staff, managers, and/or your children or partner? UK Kirkus review
This book tells the story of Alex, who fails to make it onto the board of directors and is left to cope with the consequences of his poor motivational style. This provides a starting point for a study of how to motivate others - even if you think you're already doing a good job, as Alex did. Interspersed between episodes from this case study are concise, hard-hitting sections which deal with specific points: stress, fear of success, personality types and self-talk, for example. The book also features some witty, succinct cartoons to illustrate its arguments. A lively narrative approach helps the reader to identify with the issues raised, but while the contents are interesting, the book recycles much of what has already been debated. (Kirkus UK)
