Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opens with the nail-biting Quidditch World Cup. Ron and Harry's good fortune in getting tickets is marred by the appearance of the Dark Mark which they both know to be Voldemort's signature. Harry knew he must face the evil forces again because the scar on his forehead had been hurting. Brimful of comedy and heartache the plot belts along carrying Harry into his turbulent teenage years where he must do battle with hormones as well as Voldemort. Look out for a kiss and the death of someone close to Harry. Ten year old Marganit Rauch says: The first three books in the Harry Potter series were really exciting - once you picked them up they were really hard to put down. What is so good about them is that each book is different (a different adventure each time) and you can never guess what happens next! In the fourth book it starts with a real dream and then goes on to a Quidditch (a game played on broomsticks) match. What I liked about this book is the way that it has many surprises. It's totally amazing!!! Eleven year old Matti Coleman adds: All the Harry Potter books so far have been thrilling, funny and unputdownable - but this one really stands out. There's emotion and excitement, and the woven plot is exceptional. At Hogwart's School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ron (Harry's best friend) has invited him to the Quidditch World Cup. At the end of the match someone conjures up the Dark Mark and things start to get fishy... The first thing the headmaster of Hogwart's tells the students is that there won't be a Quidditch School Cup this year and that instead, a Triwizard Tournament will be taking place. Two other schools will be competing with Hogwart's for the cup, with each school electing a champion to compete. This tournament turns out to be the central event in the book. Harry hasn't entered the tournament but mysteriously he finds himself selected, and forced to play (despite not being prepared) alongside another Hogwart's champion. The tournament consists of a series of tasks and Harry fulfils them all; the last task is to make your way through an obstacle-filled maze and grab the cup. It's a dangerous game, and despite new security regulations, Harry gets injured at the last minute. However, he helps another Hogwart's student by directing him to the cup. To their horror, they both get whisked off to the wicked Voldemort's lair, where Harry comes face to face with his archenemy and duels with him. For me this has been the best Harry Potter so far.
