Publisher and industry reviews

UK Kirkus review

Illustrated in black and white, and printed on good paper, like all the volumes in the 'World of Art' series. Although Western art predominates, the 2500-plus entries include artists and terms from other traditions. Thoroughly updated in 1994. A special effort seems to have been made to include artists that might have been overlooked earlier because of their sex or colour. Excellent value. (Kirkus UK)
