The differing facets of H. P. Lovecraft's strange world - where science fiction is laced with horror and fantasy - is no more strikingly evoked than in this collection of some of his most popular shorter stories. There are three main works here. The first, The Thing on the Doorstep, accounts the background behind a murder and transferable personalities. The second, The Dreams in the Witch House, explores premature death, which is experienced by inhabitants of a room that previously harboured a witch from Salem. Both date from 1933 and are part of the Cthulhu Mythos genre. The third main story is The Colour Out Of Space (1927), which relates the effect on the local population and vegetation when a meteorite crashes to earth.
