Synopsis

Laura is now fourteen-and-a-half and setting off for a new life in the sleepy village of Candleford Green, as assistant to the clever, dapper Miss Dorcas Lane, who runs the Post Office. In Candleford Green new ideas and new ways are coming in from the outside world, from Dorcas' famous telegraph machine to the scandalous sight of ladies riding bicycles.
