Key Stage 2 English and Literacy Pack

Synopsis

Originally designed for Years 5 and 6, and written with guidance from KS2 advisers and teachers, this pack could provide the basis for work at the beginning of KS3, particularly catch-up material for less able pupils. It offers 10 lively and varied lesson sequences that will cover at least a year's worth of language work on different topics. With a focus on word, sentence and text level work, the material is organised to create pleasurable, coherent learning experiences and avoid fragmentation. The texts which have been chosen for their liveliness and ability to engage pupils' interest cover a range of different genres and media including: short stories, poetry, plays, non-fiction, newspapers, TV and paintings. The sequences of work are: Poems that Tell Stories; Scary Stories; Writing a Play; Animal Poems; Planet 03Z; Paintings and Words; Charles a short story; Talking Teletubbies; A Christmas Carol and Picture Power.
