UK Kirkus review

Commissario Brunetti's daughter, and her classmates, are finding the priest responsible for their religious instruction a bit creepy, especially during confession. Otherwise, gossip apart, Venice is unusually placid and the Questura is kicking its heels when a shy former nun turns up with vague misgivings about sudden deaths and large bequests to the Church at a nursing home for the rich and elderly. Quite outstanding. Brunetti is one of the best since Maigret. (Kirkus UK)
