Designed for the lowest-ability Key Stage 3 students, this English series contains fiction, non-fiction, media, drama and poetry pieces arranged in relevant thematic units. It provides structured coverage of grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary development. For each of Years 7, 8 and 9 there is a student book (of which this one is for Year 9), a pack of eight skills books and a teacher's resource file. The units in the student books are divided into stand-alone double-page spreads with a skills section which develops punctuation and spelling. The skills books provide extra practice at the most basic level in reading, writing, grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary development, together with activities which can be used for independent classwork or homework. The teacher material includes curriculum and course-coverage charts, photocopiable resource sheets, and help with assessment.
