UK Kirkus review
This third in the 'Botswana' series finds Precious Ramotswe beset by problems. The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency has a dwindling number of clients, and her fiance, Mr J.L.B.Matekoni, has become puzzlingly morose and even more monosyllabic than usual. But there is a bright side. During his absence on sick-leave Mma Ramotswe and her over-qualified assistant, Mma Makutsi, abandon their expensively-rented accommodation and move into the Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors office, which enables them to save money - and keep an eye on the two feckless apprentices. The move is highly successful. Suddenly business becomes brisker. Both ladies are kept busy handling inquiries requiring both delicacy and sagacity; and the perfect 'treatment' is found for Mr J.L.B.Matekoni's depression. As always, the story is told with the author's customary gentle humour, heart-warming wisdom - and in his usual elegant prose, which is always a pleasure to read. A 'taster' for the next volume: 'The Kalahari Typing School for Men' follows the main story. (Kirkus UK)
