I am looking for your assistance." In Nigeria, the people who these email scams are called 419ers, after a section in the law. But behind the emails lie real people and real stories. We Do Not Come to You by Chance takes this idea and turns it on its head, imagining the life of a young man who gets sucked into the 419 world. Kingsley is fresh out of university and eager to find a job to support his family after his father has falled ill. But in a country riven with corruption, jobs are difficult to come by and when his father's condition worsens, Kingsley is forced to approach his uncle Boniface for help. Boniface - known to most people as Cash Daddy - is a hugely successful 419 scammer. Larger than life, with a personality as big as his waistline, Cash Daddy gradually persuades Kingsley to join him - after all the West is rich and can afford to share its generous wealth with others less fortunate. Unconditional family support is a given in Nigeria, but Kingsley soon realises that nothing there comes for free.
