Since it was first published more than ten years ago, The Gruffalo has become a children's classic and has been voted the nation's favourite bedtime story on several occasions. The combination of delightful rhyming text and beautiful images are the trademark of collaberations between Waterstones Children's Laureate, Julia Donaldson, and illustrator Axel Scheffler, and are on display again in the equally popular follow-up book, The Gruffalo's Child.

on TV
In 2009, ten years after it was first published, The Gruffalo finally made it to TV screens as the BBC1 Christmas film. The 30 minute animation had Robbie Coltrane voicing the Gruffalo, Helena Bonham Carter as the narrator, Rob Brydon as the snake, John Hurt as the owl, Tom Wilkinson as the fox, and James Corden as the mouse. And now, The Gruffalo's Child will follow in the footsteps of The Gruffalo with another star-studded BBC animation this Christmas.
