About The Rescue Man:
"It's 1939 and the bombing of Liverpool necessitates teams of men to rescue those trapped amid the rubble. One such man is Tom Baines, a historian who is chronicling the architecture of the city. He has befriended photographer Richard Tanqueray and embarks upon a love affair with his wife Bella. Baines is also researching the life of 19th century architect Peter Eames who dared to design buildings of great beauty. Both men are destined to suffer at the hands of love. Elegantly written, this is a story which highlights the emotional stress of wartime, occasionally predictable but delivering an optimistic message of recovery."
