What was your favourite childhood book?
The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton.
Which book has made you laugh?
Good Omens, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
Which book has made you cry?
Passage, Connie Willis.
Which book would you never have on your bookshelf?
One I wouldn't want to read twice.
Which book are you reading at the moment?
The Last Olympian, Rick Riordan.
Which book would you give to a friend as a present?
The Amber series by Roger Zelazny.
Which other writers do you admire?
PN Elrod, Richelle Mead, George RR Martin, Joe Lansdale, Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child, Maria V Snyder, Gena Showalter, C.J. Cherryh, Jim Butcher.
Which classic have you always meant to read and never got round to it?
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen.
What are your top five books of all time, in order or otherwise?
The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, Fevre Dream by George RR Martin, Passage by Connie Willis, Princess of Flames by Ru Emerson, The Ice Limit by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
What is the worst book you have ever read?
Night Travels of the Elven Vampire by Laverne Ross ... although truthfully, any book I really dislike, I don't really remember later!
What is your favourite time of day to write?
Early, early morning ... before dawn.
And favourite place?
My home office (which is a turret!).
Longhand or word processor?
Word processor all the way, even I can't read my handwriting.
Which fictional character would you most like to have met?
Hercule Poirot, or Dr. Watson (he's likely a better conversationalist than Holmes).
Who, in your opinion, is the greatest writer of all time?
Shakespeare (yeah, I know ... safe choice! But I mean it).
Which book have you found yourself unable to finish?
The Bridges of Madison County, Robert James Waller.
What is your favourite word?
Crepuscular.
Other than writing, what other jobs or professions have you undertaken or considered?
I've been an office manager, accountant, insurance investigator, payroll manager, graphic designer, and (until just recently) corporate communications professional.
What was the first piece you ever had in print?
Stormriders, a media tie-in novel (as Roxanne Longstreet).
What are you working on at the moment?
Just finished book 9 of the Morganville Vampires, Ghost Town, and I'm starting work on the first book in a new series, Dead Sexy.
