Kids' adaptations from the awards season 2010
Editor's choice of children's adaptations
Here you'll find our pick of the best film adaptations of classic kids' books. Spike Jonze's interpretation of the beloved Where the Wild Things are delighted the imaginations of children everywhere as the story has done since it was first published. Wes Anderson's creative adaptation of Fantastic Mr Fox, the well-known Roald Dahl classic, is an inspired piece of animation featuring the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray. The 2009 retelling of A Christmas Carol is a stunning digital animation, and Eclipse continued generating the same, almost supernatural, hysteria that the Stephanie Meyer series has accumulated so far.

What's it all about?
Before The Gruffalo won the hearts of millions of children in 1999, there was another picturebook, published in 1963, that captured the hearts of children everywhere - Where the Wild Things are. About a boy called Max with an imaginary forest in his room, this delightful tale has finally been adapted for the big screen and we're sure that a new generation of children will fall in love with this wonderful story, just like the generations before them. We personally can't wait to see it and relive those happy childhood memories wishing we had our own forest in our room.
Wes Anderson / Roald Dahl
The latest Roald Dahl classic to be made into a film is Fantastic Mr Fox. The story is centred on Mr Fox, his family and three angry farmers who are tired of sharing their chickens with such a sly fox. The three mean and greedy farmers (Boris, Bunch and Bean) hatch a plan to put an end to his fantastic trickery - but he has other plans! Fantastic Mr Fox is sure to live up to the high standards of the previous Roald Dahl adaptations and bring glee to the hearts of children with a host of adorable (and fantastic) furry friends throughout the film.
