Children's Reading Fund - using books and ebooks, CDs, games and performance to inspire children to engage more with reading
Change the story

Giving every child the hope of a better and brighter future.

For too many children, life seems mapped out with no hope of educational, social or economic improvement. We want to change the story...

Booktrust: Inspiring a love of books

Waterstones are Founding Partners for Booktrust's Children's Reading Fund and have selected the Fund as their charity partner for 2013. We will be working with Booktrust on raising funds to help disadvantaged children across the UK, particularly focusing on children in care. Waterstones' staff have a tremendous track record in fundraising both in-store and at national and international challenge events.

The Fund is also supported by James Patterson in partnership with Random House, The View from The Shard and celebrity ambassadors Cerrie Burnell, Gaby Roslin, Lemn Sissay, Dan Snow and Joanna Trollope, in addition to well-known children's book characters including Roald Dahl's Matilda. In 2013, with your help, we can use the power of stories and reading to unlock the potential of children in care.

You too can support the Fund and improve the life chances for disadvantaged children in the UK by making a donation.

Who your money helps An image of Rhys - the book parcels made him feel really valued

A child in care is more likely to go to prison than university.

Rhys was behind in school as he was often excluded from class due to disruptive behaviour. Getting regular packs from Booktrust made him feel special, boosted his self-confidence and he is now ahead of his reading age. He now believes he can achieve things that he used to think were just for other children.
