World Book Day 2011

£1 books and Quick Reads for World Book Day

World Book Day is the biggest annual celebration of books and reading in the UK and Ireland, and this year takes place on Thursday 3rd March, celebrating 14 years of encouraging the young and old to share their love of books and reading. World Book Day is a partnership of publishers, booksellers and interested parties who work together to promote books and reading for the personal enrichment and enjoyment of all. A main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. To mark the day, kids around the country will be able to watch top children's authors and well-known actors read extracts from the World Book Day £1 books online.

Sponsored by National Book Tokens World Book Day £1 Book Tokens will be distributed to all primary school children in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and offered to secondary schools and pre-school organisations who registerd, to redeem against the specially published £1 Books. The tokens can be redeemed at any Waterstone's store in the UK and Ireland from Monday 28th February - Sunday 27th March 2011 (inclusive). For further information about World Book Day tokens please visit worldbookday.com.

Unfortunately we cannot accept World Book Day tokens online, either as payment for this year's £1 books, or as part payment on any other purchase, but we have listed all of the £1 books, just in case you want to buy an extra one or two for your children.
