Biography

Date of birth: 6 January 1960

Nigella Lawson's first cookery book, How to Eat, became a bestseller when it was published in 1998 and her second book, How to be a Domestic Goddess published in 2000, won her the British Book award for Author of the Year.

Nigella Bites, Lawson's first cookery show aired on Channel 4 in 1999 and Nigella Lawson became a house-hold name.

Distinguished by her focus on cooking for pleasure and enjoyment rather than style - she finds cooking therapeutic - her cooking instructions are often relaxed guidelines rather than set recipes.
