Biography

Date of birth: 4 January 1947

Rick Stein was first brought to the attention of the public when he appeared as a guest alongside the flamboyant Keith Floyd on Floyd on Fish in 1984. Since then Rick has gone on to become one of the most highly regarded chefs of his generation, due in part to his understated approach to cookery.

Rick's name has become synonymous with the Cornish town of Padstow, where many of his restaurants are based, so much so that the town is affectionately known as 'Padstein' to many.

In recognition of his contribution to the county Rick was awarded an OBE in 2003 for services to West Country tourism.
