Black History Month 2009 - author index

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Welcome to our Black History Month author index, which features the Orange Prize-winning Andrea Levy and Zadie Smith - whose novels have brought to life the long history of Britain's black population, American literary giants such as Alice Walker, Maya Angelou and James Baldwin, and a wealth of African writers including Chinua Achebe, Nobel Prize winner, Wole Soyinka and young pretenders in the world of African writing such as Chris Abani and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. These are exciting times for black writers and artists; and Black History Month provides a much needed space and time in which to recognise and celebrate this burgeoning talent.
