Biography

Scottish author Iain M. Banks, or Iain Banks when writing mainstream Fiction, is the author of the Science Fiction novels in the Culture cycle books.

His Science Fiction writing, particular the Culture cycle novels, contain some of the most compelling stories of humanity co-existing amongst the stars in print today. From trans-human spy thrillers in Consider Phlebas, the first in the Culture cycle series, to galaxy-spanning political intrigue in The Hydrogen Sonata, the last of the Culture cycle novels to be published.

In June 2013 Iain M. Banks died shortly after the announcement that he had terminal cancer. Fans and friends are able to leave their condolences on friends.banksophilia.com. We think we can safely say his books will stand the test of time.
