Synopsis
Fresh, innovative, versatile and delicious, it's summer all year round and from around the world with Nigella. With all the style and class of her earlier books, and a whole new concept, this is an irresistible and wide-ranging book of summery recipes which can be eaten at any time - from scrumptious Italian antipasti and Greek mezze to Spanish cuisine, from barbecues to beach picnics, from Moroccan roast lamb to Mauritian prawn curry, from the traditional strawberries-and-cream feel of an English summer afternoon to Indian-summer evenings at home, from light lunches to seductive suppers; and with a selection of unusual icecreams and melt-in-the-mouth puddings to die for. Summer cooking is relaxed cooking, for days when we want to conjure up a mood of sunny expansiveness even in the darkest months. Easy cooking, easy eating. No one wants to slave over a hot stove for hours: the keynote is simplicity, freshness, enjoyment. It's a way of celebrating summer not only while it lasts, but extending it through the year. This gorgeous book, written with all Nigella's characteristic flair and passion, ties in with her new Channel 4 TV series and contains 40 or so additional recipes added exclusively for the book. Another groundbreaking design, ravishingly illustrated in full colour throughout.

UK Kirkus review
With autumn making itself seriously felt, Nigella Lawson's new cookbook is a perfect tonic. Despite the nauseatingly smug photograph of a far too attractive Nigella on the cover, it goes a long way to wiping out the winter blues. As with her previous cookbooks, Lawson has packed this new book with lots of recipes. There is a strong Asian-Pacific Rim influence this time, including gems like Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls, the chewy noodle wrapping enclosing a fragrant filling of fresh herbs and vegetables. The melt-in-the-mouth Passionfruit Shortcake, lavished with dollops of freshly whipped cream, shows Lawson at her wickedly indulgent best. Whilst you might want to hang on to some of the recipes for the next summer's day - the recipe for Watermelon, Feta and Black Olive Salad for example - most of them make spectacular eating all year round. Pappardelle with Courgettes, Sultanas and Pine Nuts makes a deliciously satisfying supper whether you are in the garden or by the fire; nothing beats good pasta and this one is both fantastically simple and tastes wonderful. The introduction to each recipe is well worth reading in its own right. The witty explanations - and characterful descriptions such as 'slut-red raspberries in Chardonnay jelly' - will make you smile and remind you of the animated Nigella we have all come to know so well from the television series. Even better, Lawson's recipes work - someone is working hard behind the scenes testing every recipe to make sure of that. This is a cookbook to use and a cookbook to give, and it is sure to make even mere mortals feel like domestic goddesses for a while. (Kirkus UK)
