Once upon a time – well, just last month, actually – we wondered what sort of influence the books we’ve read have on our lives.
It was such a compelling wonder that we felt we just had to ask, so we ran a blogger competition to find out about the most influential books in people’s lives. Of the many, many entries we received – and with great difficulty – our book-loving judge Emma Grinter chose the winner.
Sorting through accounts of hope, laughter, childhood role models, inspired adventures, courage-giving tales and books that opened up the magical world of fiction for the very first time, Emma chose the entry that really stood out to her thanks, she explained, to its perfect demonstration of the power of books:
“I picked out this entry because it shows that all kinds of books can ignite the spark that becomes a lifelong passion for reading.
“The way a quote has been included just goes to show that the best books can really stick in your mind, staying with you long after you’ve reached the end of that very last page.”
So who is the lucky winner of our fantastic competition?
A huge congratulations goes out to Jessica Patient. You can read details of the book that helped Jessica fall in love with reading Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes here. Well done Jessica.
